The New African
After the fifth Pan-African Congress, which took place in Manchester, England, in October 1945, a group of West African nationalists founded the West African National Secretariat, based in London. Kwame Nkrumah was its secretary-general. The secretariat's objective was to make plans for a federation of independent states. In March 1946, the group launched its journal, The New African. Due to lack of funds, only a few issues ever appeared.
